How Faith Works…
The Cornerstone of Christianity…
Every new believer must first understand that the cornerstone of Christianity is faith. This statement is based on five primary principles. First of all, to serve the kingdom of God you have to be a living creature. Once you are dead, the opportunity to glorify God and win souls for Christ’s sake is gone. The first Scripture deals with just that… “The just shall live by faith” (Romans 1:17), (Habakkuk 2:4), (Hebrews 10:38), and (Galatians 3:11) This statement was such a strong principle that the Scriptures sites four witnesses who used the exact same quote. Additionally, Scripture teaches us to use one or two, or even three witnesses to establish our case. This is the same judicial system used in our courts, today. “But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.”(Matthew 18:16 and 2 Corinthians 13:1)
Our next foundation point is based upon salvation. Indeed as a believer, we have to understand our primary goal as living creatures is to diligently strive to obtain eternal salvation. The bible teaches us “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (Ephesians 2:8). This Scripture makes it clear that God in one majestic move has divinely given us two wonderful gifts; Grace and Faith. When you think about it, he manages to squeeze in two more marvelous gifts; hope and our salvation. However, he lets us know in his word that you will be unsuccessful in achieving faith without the principle ingredient of His Holy grace. It is sort of like making a cake, or pie, or my personal favorite banana pudding; you already have all of the necessary ingredients. You have your pudding mix, your vanilla cookies, and your milk, but you can’t make a banana pudding without the bananas…Right?
IS IT POSSIBLE TO PLEASE GOD WITHOUT FAITH?
If that point has not resonated enough for you and you still want to debate the subject. Here is another faith fact that you should consider. The Bible tells us that “Without faith is impossible to please God.”(Hebrews 11:6) Now, there is YOUR BANANA; that missing ingredient that I was telling you about. We have already established in Scripture that faith is for the living. This brings up another direct commandment from God… According to the Bible, we have what God describes as a reasonable service regarding our bodies. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” (Romans 12:1) We who are alive to God experience new birth and now need faith to live! Next, we have determined that certainly we need faith to obtain salvation. Also, we established the fact that God describes these necessary things for faith as personal gifts from our Heavenly Father. What are your thoughts?
