“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him”(Hebrews 11:6).

Hope and Imagination in the Game of Basketball

To attempt a free-throw shot without hope and/or imagination is like shooting dice or playing the slot machines in Las Vegas. There is a chance you could make the shot. There is also a chance you could miss the shot. If you have a decent shot, the chances are greater that you will probably make the next shot. However, “without vision, the people perish” according to Scripture. “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law happy is he” (Proverbs: 29:18). Too preachy? OK, let’s reverse this concept; when we attempt a free-throw using hope and imagination, the element of chance is dissipate’s. Does this mean I will never miss another free-throw? No, but your shooting percentage will be so greatly improved that it will appear to onlookers as if you practically never miss.  In this post we will examine the intricate spiritual, mental, and physical aspects involving the evolution of the perfect free-throw using the power of the mind and our God given innate natural attributes of imagination.

I say to you today my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment… I still have a dream! It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self–evident: that all men are created equal… I have a dream today.” This was a speech delivered on August 28, 1963, by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In this most eloquent speech, we could replace the words dream with imagination and or hope without losing any of the significant literal context, comprehension, or substance. His personal dream became the visionary quest of a nation. It serves as an excellent platform to illustrate the human attribute, ability, or spiritual gift which God has given us through our dreams, thoughts, and imagination.

The structure of the individual authors in Scripture reflects a chronological transition and evolution that is consistent with regard to the subject of man’s spiritual imagination and hope. For instance, if I say the word bird, cat, dog, or dinosaur, what do you see? Why do we see a picture in our mind instead of the actual letters in the word spoken? Here, we can see the power of the spoken word magnified and manifested in the same manner used by our Heavenly Father during the Creation of man and of the world. “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:”(Deuteronomy 30:19). We are instinctively, naturally, and superbly created this way. According to Scripture, “And God said, ‘Let us make man in our image…’” (Genesis 1:26).
